Capturing One of Life's Most Precious Gifts with Beautiful Newborn Portraits for Chippewa Valley Clients

All newborn sessions take place at my Augusta studio and typically last about 2.5-3 hours to ensure we have time for all those set-ups, feedings and any soothing that may occur. Family and sibling portraits are included if you so choose. I will pencil in your due date to reserve your newborn session and then once your baby is born we will schedule your baby's portrait session date and time. Note that newborn sessions are photographed in the morning and take place when your baby is between 5-12 days new. I will get all the details taken care of prior to the birth of your baby so you don't have to worry about a thing, because that first week can be a little overwhelming.

My studio will be nice and warm, which will be perfect for your little one. I will have everything set-up and ready to go when you arrive. There will also be snacks and water for you and a cool place to chill if you get too warm. I have a little play area for older siblings to hang out while we capture photos of baby alone. You don't need to worry about a thing, just bring your precious baby and milk for feeding your baby. Other than that, I've got you covered.

Booking a session with me is super easy!

To book/reserve your newborn session all you have to do is add the session to your cart and pay the session fee for your newborn portrait session and fill out a session questionnaire that I will send to you. That is it. You do not need to pay anything else until after you have viewed ALL of your images at your reveal and order session.

Once you have seen all your images, you can decide how many images you want to purchase, and whether you would prefer a digital portrait collection, portrait artwork or a combination of both. There are absolutely no pressure sales, you order what you want and love. I am there to help guide you.

Newborn Session Fee - $150

The session fee is due at the time of booking in order to secure your date and time. Please note that this fee does not include prints or digital images, and covers the time and talent of the photographer only.

Questions You May Have About Newborn Portraits

When should I schedule my session?: I highly recommend reserving your newborn session once you are in your second trimester to ensure availability. Your actual session date will be scheduled once your baby arrives.

Newborn sessions take place Monday - Friday at 9:30am at my studio located just outside of Augusta.

If you have delivered your baby already, I do try to make room for a last minute session when I can. So, be sure to reserve a newborn session in advance.
What should I wear?: Everyone has their own take on what one should wear. I say it depends on the look and feel you want to display in your home. But, I do suggest dark, solid colors if you want a simple and timeless look and feel to your images and dark solid colors are also slimming when it comes to portraits.

You can also choose to wear a maternity gown from my client closet for your newborn portraits. Gowns are great for mommy/baby images and add a simple elegance to your images.

If you like color...let's discuss. There are some guidelines I like to follow.

I highly recommend to stay away from logos and busy designs as it distracting to the eye and can age an image years from now.

AND...most importantly your clothing must be clean, free from wrinkles and lint AND make sure that everyone's fingernails are manicured nicely as they will be in the images. Mamas, if you paint your nails, please stay away from bright colors. You don't want your nails to draw attention away from you or your baby. Light neutral colors or French tips are best.
What should I bring for my baby?: As far as props go, you do not need to bring anything but the baby. If you do have a special heirloom piece or prop you would like to use, please discuss with me ahead of time so I can incorporate it into the session.

Items to bring for your baby would include a pacifier, a soft blanket, burp cloth, formula/breast milk if your are exclusively bottle feeding and extra diapers/wipes.

I suggest bringing an extra pair of clothes for yourself just in case your baby gets "fluids" on you.
What is required to book a session?: A session retainer fee is required to formally reserve your due date. Your actual newborn session will be scheduled once your baby arrives.

The retainer fee ensures a confirmed reservation for your session and includes a pre-session consultation, your photography session, and an in-person reveal and ordering session. The session retainer fee is nonrefundable and is separate from any portrait collections or portrait artwork, and allows a smooth portrait experience and all it entails.

Newborns are photographed 5-12 days from the date of their birth.
What is your rescheduling policy?: If you need to reschedule, please contact me at least 24-48 hours in advance if you won't be able to come in for your scheduled portrait session due to illness or another reason. Even though the session fee is nonrefundable, we can reschedule your session within seven days of your original session.
